Creation of models on the scale of Mercedes-Benz Feuerwehr. G&M for ER-models. History in pictures.

We decided to show how the born model on the example of two recent works of the Studio G&M: Mercedes-Benz LoS 3750 Luftwaffe and Mercedes-Benz LoS 3500 Metz 1933.

The selection criteria are many, the main one being the presence of a sufficient number of photographs. We do not do model one picture, no matter how beautiful it was. Also, of course, the future model should be interesting for us, in a sense, collectors and master. Because the master is also collector.

All the prototype for a future model of the selected, approved by all authorities.

Mater begins to translate the photographic image into a drawing. Transformirovalsya picture in the photo editor on the control labels, created by the known size - the wheelbase, wheel size, height of standard canisters, the length of the standard sole of the boot, etc...

Determines the color of the car. About this exciting procedure has already been written. Especially memorable setting on the color scale the color of the skin of the average German inhabitant of the city, in mid-March. It turns out that in special directories there is no such option in the form of a set of numbers.

Then there is a breakdown drawing of the part. Here is a complete flight of fancy. There are no rules, each master decides to make the body and cabin of one item or to collect from a heap of different. The main thing is to keep the number of copies per cell and the performance of all subsequent processes.

After that, the drawings are made on each item separately, including the etched elements, which then still had a long and scrupulous work separately. At this stage it becomes clear about how long it will take to production preparation process, what difficulties have to fight during this production and how much all this joy will cost money. Although, since the construction of the Egyptian pyramids, everyone knows that nothing is built on time and in the prescribed estimates.

And here is the interim holiday - made the master model. It is a joyous stage, for it is impossible to escape the feeling that all behind and in front of you almost finished model. The joy is short-lived and interrupted in the course of the next presentation production meeting, which opened all the problems of the modern world. Nothing less.

The master model was made of transparent plexiglass and brass for the stability of operation and durability.

By the way, the photo shows the serial number of the model. So on all other parts, too, will stand number 5 - this achieves the exact compatibility of all parts among themselves.

 

In the next phase are made trial castings, which fit etched part based on the properties of the resin to shrink, is the markup on the casting under the hinge. Checked and adjusted all the cast parts, pre-painted. The master feature of the developed technology lies in the fact that every detail has its seat in the words of the master: "These models you can collect blindly, to the touch. Every detail will stand strictly on its place." Each model has only one set of items with one serial number and the manufacturing precision casting such that during pre-Assembly fitting glue is not used.

In parallel, to add variety, being a soldering etched parts. Very hard work, consuming a lot of time. For example, a simple-looking coil on the ladder M-B L6500 consists of 14 parts, and these coils on the car - 2pcs.

Here's how solidly it looks crane beam for coils on the model 3750 LoS. For it is possible fearlessly to raise the entire model, although it soldered from a very fine etched details.

The hinges and lock handles (8 loops and 7 handles on each side of the model) at 3750 LoS, though painted in body color, made of photo-etched parts, and each has its own planting hole for the pin. Therefore, the etched parts from these models with a brush just to brush away. Even dig them in the memory will have to try. This is not Matrix any...

On average, from looking at the pictures in the book up to the scrutiny of the finished model on the table is 6-7 months of serious work of a great Master, who is hiding behind the acronym G&M.
