How to make a Mercedes-Benz S-class is much wider and not cause no have one suspected? In 1980-e years witnessed the Golden era of tuning - when for extra charge, car could do anything. "Cheat" the engine up to 1000 horsepower, to sheathe salon skin Royal Python, make a convertible out of a limousine or six-wheeled SUV... But the company Styling Garage (SGS) went ahead and created this limo, which is difficult even to imagine. What do the body and tuning shop to turn Executive saloon in the most convenient means of transport for wealthy clients? As a rule, increase the wheelbase, installed in salon advanced electronics and be done with it. But in Styling Garage while you build your Royale and decided to go for a more sophisticated way. They took an ordinary S-class W126 in the back and increased it not only in length but also in width... and even in height. The differences in both, but... But it is necessary to compare Royale with the usual W126, everything falls into place. As the basis for a "Royal" limo used Mercedes-Benz 500 or 560 SEC, which made wider by 100 mm, increasing in length by 300, 700 or 1200 mm, depending on the selected version, and increased the body height. To the car look in proportion, SGS had to get new headlights, a special grille and body panels - nothing is supposed to give an artful tuning.  For this reason, SGS Royale in 1985 was worth space money - 350 thousand d-marks. Was the sum cost of building the simplest version, with 300-millimeter increase in body length. No wonder you want to buy this car there were not very many. Or rather, wishing it was just a lot, but not everyone can afford such modifications. In the end, it was released only six SGS Royale, and three of them went to Brunei, in the garage of the infamous Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.    Doors Royale lengthened by 150 mm, and body width was commensurate with the Hummer H1: 2016 mm! Length - more than six meters, the wheelbase - 4130 mm, and curb weight reached the level of three tons.     Engines for Royale offered two: five-liter V8 with a capacity of 245 horsepower, as in the base 500 SEC, or bored up to six litres of V8, built on the basis of 5.6-liter engine. His return was impressive by the standards of 1985, 385 horsepower - then this power was the prerogative of a sports car. Transmission changes did not require a traditional four-step automatic transmission, the transmitting traction on the rear axle, remained the same as it was created at Mercedes-Benz.     Suspension, given the increased size and weight, required some intervention, however schematic front and rear suspensions remained unchanged - intensified only used assemblies and components. Preserved and the self-levelling system of the body.     As expected from the limousine of the mid-80s, the cabin SGS Royale was a real aristocratic luxury: an abundance of wood of rare breeds, the best quality leather, electrically seats, TV, VCR, mini-bar, hi-Fi system with amplifier and graphic equalizer, and, of course, the sea of space.   All six copies of the Royale were collected in 1985. How many of them are still alive today is uncertain. Anyway, look for these rare limousines have in the oil producing countries of the Middle East.
