Mercedes-Benz Typ w29 540K Special Cabriolet C "Vanderbilt", 1936. Closed top. EMC-Models The body of this car was designed by legendary designer company Mercedes Hermann Ahrens (he worked in a special unit, designed body orders VIP and show cars created in the workshop "Sindelfingen Karosserie"). There were two such identical car Typ 540K, built for Mr. Williams from new York and Raja Tagore. Burden was the nephew of the famous banker Vanderbilt, so the project was named "the Vanderbilt". Mr. Williams liked the car, so Ahrens developed for this model, the radiator grille, the shape and angle of which resembled a Frenchman Delage and Talbot at that time. In order to save money "French" grille was installed before the original "Mercedes". Currently the car is in a private collection in the United States.   © Shibalov
